SS Chevelle! 1966 80% Done! Moving and Cannot Take With...
Well- it has all but happened. The family has been wanting to move out of town and into the country.
Property found, ironing out some details.
Long story shortened- there really won't be great place to work on the car as I have been able to in my own shop. I will be selling this car for a pittance, compared to what they will go for completed.
There have been thousands spent on parts and installation, hours of body work. I had planned to wrap this car up during the summer- but "happy family" takes precedence over a project that probably won't get driven much anyways..
Rust was minimal, driver's rear quarter and a patch panel was installed. The front passenger quarter was patched. All filler has been of the short-strand fiberglass style for the increased strength over standard lightweight body filler. A lot more work to remove-but in the end a much better surface to work with.
No matter the option- I will require the new owner to release the license plate rights to me as they are sentimental. This is not negotiable.
This can be a couple of option purchase:
Option 1- The car, sans the new wiring harness (I have the original- so you aren't out much), the 396 and M21 will remain with me. This is the $12,000 option. All other parts would accompany the car. This price will be lowered to 11k.
Option 2- Car, with engine and transmission installed. The engine is brand new- hasn't been even broken in yet. Was build by a very reputable shop that is very well known and respected. All parts (and extras too!) will be included. Transmission- shifts. When purchased, the inspection cover was removed. Trans appears to be in good shape and doesn't piss fluid. This is an $18,000 option. You cannot build this combo for that money.
Most-if not all of the chrome is there, minus the rocker panel/rear quarter chrome. Badges, interior knobs, handles are there. Front windows- one is fully in, the other just needs the window put in. Rear windows- I have one of the tracks and a window. Another will need to be purchase. Windshield and rear window need purchase. Bumpers are present but could use a replacement. Hood was in horrible shape and sold. The "scoops" are there for a new SS hood. Car was an original 10 bolt, and is correct geared. Front buckets were trashed and sold, the rear seat is present but needs recovering. I had planned to put aftermarket buckets in. Radiator will need to be purchased.
I had budgeted about 3 weeks of good work left on the car, a few hours a day. Before paint, and going stupid high with a wish list- I figured around 4k left.
This car was born an SS- 138 code. Not a malibu or 300. I have done some research and found most in this category are asking more than I am.
It's for sale, not on sale. Please refrain from asking the bottom dollar- especially if you don't have it to begin with.
**Pro-Tip**: Calling to tell me your 30 minute story really isn't needed. Sorry to be a dick about it, but this has happened before. I will answer anything related to the car to the very best of my ability and knowledge. I cannot make a single promise or warranty.
Wise-arse texts, calls or messages will be blocked and reported. If you have tried to reach me, and I don't answer- you made that list already.
Trades: The only trades I would entertain would be a Bobcat with all of the attachments, big enough to do landscaping and the like. If that is the case- it will be a straight-across trade and value will be adjusted to a classic car in #2 condition. Cash is king.
As a final caveat- Should there be a glitch in financing, inspection, etc. This will be removed. This is early in the process so as to avoid the "fire sale" when cleaning.
As time passes, I may end up using a couple of marketing pages on facebook to sell this.
I will keep it local (Bisman) until that time arrives.
If you feel the price is out of line- and have an offer..... in cash, I will listen.
*What will I sell it for? Pretty simple, if you are under 10k-the engine and trans will not be an option, and the wiring harness will be the original. *
I really don't want to put the car into cold storage until I get a minute to work on it again, and I really don't have that big of an emotional attachment to it. I would love for it to go to an owner that would build it with their children and drive the wheels off of it.
There are so many extra parts for this car, and the chrome, from what I have seen is all present. This isn't a clone 138 code- it's the real deal.
The folks that have come to look it over have commented that they haven't seen a "real" SS Chevelle for the '66 year.
Again- as you read this, please remember that I am not selling the car to make bills- just to see it go to a home that will give it the time it deserves, and lets me get the 68 out of the trailer and drive it again.
With pictures being taken of our property for sale at the end of the month- it would be great to see it gone. If not, I have arranged a spot for it- and it is a pain to move it endlessly.
